About the atelier

A studio for paying attention.

Mossfield Atelier began as a shared table where field notes, fallen leaves, and unfinished questions could sit together. We now create structured courses for people who want to understand the craft behind a considered herbarium page.

Our mission

We make botanical craft education clear, ethical, and approachable. Lessons focus on observation, responsible sourcing, preservation, and visual communication so learners can develop a practice that belongs to them.

Our method

Each course moves from context to demonstration to a manageable project. We favor honest materials lists, specific vocabulary, and room for revision over spectacle or urgency.

The people at the table

Mara Ellison

Founding tutor

Mara develops lessons around field observation and the useful discipline of a well-kept notebook.

Jonah Reed

Materials editor

Jonah tests paper, storage, and adhesive guidance so every recommendation remains practical and transparent.

Priya Sen

Studio coordinator

Priya supports learners, schedules group sessions, and keeps our courses welcoming for different experience levels.
